The tractor is a kind of tool to convey downhole tools into a horizontal well or highly deviated well. When logging in such kind of wells, downhole tools couldn’t be loaded down to target depth by gravity, the tractor with its own power in it will be used to convey downhole tools to the right position. Comparing with the drill pipe convey, logging time, the working strength, and the risk of construction are reduced. And no rigs are needed. Comparing with oil tubing, the convey distances are longer and not effected by the well depth.
The tractor is an independent system, which consists of two parts: downhole tools and surface controller, and can work in conjunction with the logging wireline.
